From our Sacramento home to yours
Ragdoll Kittens for Washington, Oregon and Western Families
Choosing a kitten from another state should start with a conversation, not a plane ticket. Kitten Around Ragdolls is a TICA-registered home cattery in Sacramento, California. We welcome questions from families farther away, and we want you to understand the kitten, our care and the plan for getting home before you make travel arrangements.
Start with the kitten and the family match
Look through our current kitten profiles, photos and videos, then tell us about your household. Who lives with you? Are there other animals? What kind of personality are you hoping for? We want each kitten to become an integral part of the family, and the right match matters more than choosing from a photograph alone.
Confirm availability and talk through the next steps with us before booking transportation. Visits to our Sacramento home cattery are by appointment. Travel arrangements depend on the particular placement; we do not promise a particular airport, route, arrival time or delivery price.
Genetic testing and echocardiograms: ask to see the records
Our currently breeding cats have genetic testing reports, and we share their reports and pedigrees on our Kings and Queens page. Young cats we are raising for the program are tested before breeding. Ask about the actual parents of the kitten you are considering.
A DNA test and an echocardiogram are different examinations. The UC Davis Ragdoll HCM test checks a particular HCM-associated variant; it does not rule out every cause of heart disease. An echocardiogram is an ultrasound examination of the heart.
David Bowie, Princess (Strawberry Shortcake) and Bandit have completed echocardiograms. We are working through the remaining cats in our program. We can explain which examinations the particular parents have completed and discuss the records with you. A screened parent does not mean the kitten has had the same examination, and screening is not a promise that a cat can never develop HCM.
For Washington families: review the match before the itinerary
If you are looking for a Ragdoll kitten from Seattle, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland or elsewhere in Washington, start by getting to know the kitten and our program. Our cattery is in Sacramento, California. We can discuss pickup by appointment and whether an individually arranged in-cabin flight nanny is feasible for your placement; an airport appearing on a route map is not a confirmed travel arrangement.
Washington's official small-animal entry guidance distinguishes established pets traveling with their owners from pets changing homes. Do not assume that an exemption for a pet you have owned for more than a month applies when bringing home a newly purchased kitten. Ask the veterinarian to verify the applicable Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and rabies requirements for the kitten's age and actual entry date, along with any carrier requirements.
Before booking, confirm who will accompany the kitten, the handoff location, the records traveling with the kitten and the plan if a flight changes. Keep transportation costs separate from the companion-kitten price. We want the match and the practical arrangements settled together, without rushing either one.
For Oregon families: compare the actual pickup and flight plans
Portland, Lake Oswego, Beaverton, Bend and Medford families may have different practical choices for getting home from Sacramento. Compare the complete journey rather than assume that driving or flying is always simpler. Discuss who will care for the kitten, carrier requirements, handoff arrangements and any separate costs before choosing a date. Visits to our home cattery are by appointment.
The Oregon Department of Agriculture's official dog and cat entry guidance lists a uniquely numbered Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued by an accredited veterinarian within thirty days before entry. Its rabies guidance includes an exception for puppies and kittens under sixteen weeks unless they originate in a quarantined area. Have the veterinarian confirm what applies to your kitten and route; a carrier may have additional or shorter document-timing requirements.
Bring the conversation back to the kitten, too. Review the individual profile and the proposed parents' records, ask about the kitten's routines and prepare a quiet place to settle at home. A good travel plan supports a thoughtful family match; it does not replace one.
Planning for a Utah home
For families in Salt Lake City, Park City and elsewhere in Utah, settle the match and pickup arrangements before planning the journey. We are in Sacramento; there is no Utah cattery location to visit.
Utah's official animal-entry guidance has a specific dogs/cats/ferrets section. It lists rabies vaccination for cats over twelve weeks and particular circumstances when a veterinary health certificate is required. Read that species section rather than assuming the general introduction applies without exceptions. Confirm the current requirements with the veterinarian for the kitten's age, origin and actual travel route. Carrier rules may require additional paperwork.
Planning for an Idaho home
If you are bringing a kitten home to Boise, Meridian, Eagle or another Idaho community, include the destination address and veterinary paperwork in the travel discussion early. The paperwork for an Idaho trip is not necessarily the same as for a Utah trip.
Idaho's official household-pet entry guidance lists a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection with the destination's full physical address and current rabies vaccination for cats twelve weeks and older. The state does not accept the APHIS 7001 form as a valid certificate. Work with the veterinarian to confirm current requirements and any route-specific advisories before travel, and check the carrier's requirements before booking.
Nevada: Reno and Las Vegas are different trips
Our Reno and Lake Tahoe page covers Northern Nevada and Tahoe families, including Sparks and Carson City. For Las Vegas and Henderson families, we discuss the actual journey separately. Southern Nevada is not a short extension of the Reno pickup plan.
Tell us where you are coming from and let's talk through what can be arranged. Confirm the kitten's readiness, veterinary paperwork and any carrier requirements before making reservations. Transportation availability and costs are discussed individually; we do not assume that every Nevada family has the same options.
Clear pricing before you make plans
Every companion kitten is $4,500, regardless of sex or color, with no discounts. Transportation costs are separate. Our companion kitten guide explains the included care. Review the kitten's records and current written agreement with us before reserving; we want you to understand what you are choosing and feel comfortable asking questions.
For Arizona, use our existing Arizona family guide, which includes Phoenix, Scottsdale and Tucson. California families can find guidance for Northern California, the Bay Area and Silicon Valley, and Southern California.
State guidance checked October 27, 2026. Entry rules and carrier requirements can change; confirm them for your actual travel date.
