Bringing Your Kitten Home: Three Easy Options

1

Pick Up in Sacramento

The drive over Donner Pass is one of the most beautiful routes in the West — about two hours from Reno, three from South Lake Tahoe. Many Northern Nevada families turn pickup day into a small road trip and meet their kitten's family in person. We schedule pickup appointments on weekdays between 10am and 4pm, with consideration for snow conditions in winter months.

2

Ground Delivery to Northern Nevada

For families who can't make the drive — especially during winter when I-80 can be tricky — we offer ground delivery with a trusted pet courier for a flat fee. Your kitten travels in a climate-controlled vehicle directly to your door, usually within the same day.

3

Meet in Truckee or Auburn

Occasionally we'll meet halfway — typically in Truckee or Auburn — for families who want to save the full drive but still pick up in person. Available by arrangement when our schedule allows.

Why Northern Nevada Families Come to Us

Nevada has very few TICA-registered Ragdoll catteries, and the ones that exist are often hours from Reno or Tahoe. Many of our Nevada-based adopters come to us for a few specific reasons:

  • We're the closest reputable option. Sacramento is closer to Reno than most California breeders, and far closer than any in-state Nevada option.
  • Mountain climate suits Ragdolls. Ragdolls thrive in cooler weather thanks to their semi-long coats. They're a natural fit for Tahoe and high-elevation homes.
  • We test for everything. We're TICA registered, mentored by the current RFCI President, and use Optimal Selection Feline to genetically test our breeding cats for 45+ conditions including HCM and PKD.
  • Lifetime support, regardless of state lines. Whether you're in Carson City or Incline Village, you can text us anytime about food, behavior, or health. We're a resource for the entire life of your cat.

Not sure how to evaluate a breeder you're considering? Our complete buyer's guide walks through the credentials, questions, and red flags that separate ethical breeders from scams.

We also serve San Francisco Bay Area and Southern California families with the same TICA-registered, health-tested kittens.

Reno & Tahoe Adoption FAQ

How far is your cattery from Reno?

About two hours via I-80, traffic and weather depending. Roughly three hours from South Lake Tahoe and Incline Village.

What about winter — is the drive safe?

Donner Pass closures and chain controls are real considerations from late November through April. We work with adopters to schedule pickup windows around weather forecasts. Ground delivery is often the easier choice in winter, and we're happy to coordinate that for you.

How much is ground delivery to Reno or Tahoe?

Flat fees vary by exact location but typically range from $200 to $400 for Northern Nevada destinations. We coordinate with a trusted pet courier and provide an exact quote once your application is approved.

Can I visit the cattery before adopting?

We schedule meet-and-greets after a kitten application has been approved and a deposit placed. This protects our cats from stress and protects families from the cattery-visit scams common in this breed. We provide extensive video and photo updates before any visit.

Do Ragdolls do well at high elevation?

Yes. Ragdolls are an indoor breed and adapt well to a wide range of elevations. Their semi-long coat makes them especially suited to cooler mountain climates. As with any cat at high altitude, simply ensure they have access to fresh water and a temperature-controlled environment.

How much do your kittens cost?

Every kitten is a flat $4,500 — regardless of color, pattern, or whether they meet show standards. Every kitten goes home spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, with TICA paperwork, a 1-year health guarantee, 30 days of free Trupanion insurance, and lifetime breeder support. See our full pricing guide for details.
